The fourth LTT was held from 28 November to 2 December 2022 in Mersin, Turkey. The topic of this LTT was Robotics. The participating students had a valuable opportunity to implement their coding skills obtained at the previous LTT in Romania as well as practice their English language skills. During this LTT some cultural events were organized, including the trip to Cappadocia.
Day 1: After some icebreaking activities for students, a computer-free coding activity was done with the Beebot robot. Then, a computer-free coding event was held with Makey Makey, where students also studied conductors and insulators. Finally, simple smart systems were designed using ready-made coded modules (sensors, LED, motors, etc.) with the Twin Science Set. An autonomous vehicle design was made with the Twin Science Set at the end of the workshop.
Day 2: The first task was to give coded instructions to the Meet Edison and mBot robots to perform a workout. For the second task the block coding applications were made with the microBit development board and after that the rock-paper-scissors game was coded.
In the afternoon a cultural excursion to the maiden’s castle in Silifke took place.
Day 3: A whole day cultural trip to Cappadocia was organised.
Day 4: Block coding applications were made with the Scratch program. Two simple level digital game design was made by the students.
In the afternoon a cultural excursion to Tarsus, a historic city in south-central Turkey, took place.
Day 5: The use of the Arduino development board was explained. Applications such as LED burning, sequential LED, traffic lights were made.
The program was concluded with the certificate ceremony and a farewell dinner in the evening.
